RECIST 1.1, quantitative Crohn’s disease MRI and more

Several new functionalities have become available since my last update. Also one of the most popular calculators (adrenal washout) has been slightly redesigned for a hopefully more streamlined user experience. As you can notice the menu system has underwent a considerable reorganization recently. This was a must since with the growing number of tools the previous layout has became cumbersome to navigate. The new system uses primarily organ systems as broad categories. This also means that there are some overlaps, e.g. volume calculators can be found in both the appropriate organ system, and under the volume calculators menu. I hope that this layout feels more natural, but user feedback is always welcome so don’t hesitate to contact me if it feels less than ideal.

Lets take a brief look at the new features:

  • The RECIST 1.1 calculator has been on my list of “must-do” calculators for a while. The end result is a tool that can be used simultaneously to evaluate target and non-target lesion behavior, and target lesion characteristics (nodal lesion vs. mass) are also considered. There is a lengthy list of caveats included with this tool, including some edge scenarios where particular caution is warranted.
  • A well-rounded Crohn’s disease quantitative MRI imaging porfolio has been realized:
    • MaRIA score: a classic, but somewhat cumbersome formula for the quantitative assessment of disease burden and therapy response on contrast-enhanced MRI enterography.
    • MARIAs: a significantly simplified version of the original index, but without sacrificing clinical utility.
    • The Clermont score stems from the original MaRIA score, substituting contrast enhancement with diffusion restriction. Thus, its an excellent choice for quantitative assessment of the increasing amount of noncontrast MRI enterographic exams.
  • The stroke CT multi-tool is a one-stop shop calculator tool with the following functionalities:
    • ASPECTS score
    • CTA-SI-ASPECTS
    • pc-ASPECTS
    • single-phase CTA collateral scores
    • multiphase CTA collateral score
  • This tool can be used in various different settings, exam protocols and scenarios.

With a particularly busy period of the year I will try to keep adding new tools albeit with a slower pace. The next major update is not to be expected until early 2022.
